Let me see here: The federal government is going to 'loan' tens of billions of dollars to the automobile companies. Chris Dodd and others have said that in return, the Congress intends to direct mergers, dictate what types of cars the Big 3 will build, what sorts of technology they will develop, what salaries they may pay to executives and even who may be employed as a senior manager.
